First UK edition, first impression, Faber and Faber, London, 1932 [preceded by Tales Told of Shem and Shaun, Paris: Black Sun Press, 1929.]
Pale green cloth with blue titles to spine. A previous ownership inscription to front free endpaper with slight foxing to upper cloth and small red stain to lower cloth , otherwise VG+ in VG+ unclipped red dustwrapper printed in blue with original price “2s.6d. net” at foot of inside front flap and with faded spine.
The subtitle on the title page reads “Fragments from Work in Progress”. Work in progress was how Finnegans Wake was referred to before it was published. This volume contains two of the most famous and important parts of Finnegans Wake. The two stories are ‘The Mookse and the Gripes’ and ‘The Ondt and the Gracehoper’. A very nice copy of an important book.
